As adventurous whisky lovers and part of the team at The Scotch Malt Whisky Society (www.smws.com), we’re keen to discover new giddy-heights in which to enjoy our whisky - we’re even thinking of making some ideas a reality. So join the discussion and as a little submit-your-ideas -incentive we’re giving away six SMWS single cask bottlings – every month to a lucky few with some great suggestions. Each and every SMWS single cask bottle is a unique experience; it’s not unusual to be ‘Kissing a Balrog’s bum’ (Cask 29.83). They’re also limited in numbers and usually only available to SMWS members – so an out-of-this-world whisky prize for the winner.
You can submit your Ultimate Whisky Experience ideas on the right panel of any UWE page; feel free to send us more that one. (If you have a moment it would be great if you could complete our Whisky Poll too.) Your ideas can be as out there as you like but remember, we’d like to bring them to life but a whisky tasting on the moon is way-out of our reach.

Bid to Smuggle 1,230 bottles of Liquor in container foiled

Some people will go to all sorts of lengths to ensure their ultimate whisky experience…
‘Bandar Seri Begawan – The smuggling of alcohol hidden inside cars and vans is nothing compared to what the Royal Customs and Excise Department officials came across yesterday as people intent on smuggling the contraband into the Sultanate are getting bolder.
Officials seized the biggest haul of alcohol so far this year after more than 1,000 bottles of liquor were found hidden in a container carrying mattresses.
The vehicle carrying the contraband hidden between mattresses entered the country through the Kuala Lurah Control Post.
The Customs enforcement personnel made use of the mobile x-ray unit to scan the container and found suspicious items inside.
The Customs officials opened the container to conduct a search and found 1,230 bottles of hard liquor including brands like Bacardi, Scotch whisky, Smirnoff, VAT 69, as well as Jonnie Walker Red and Black Label. The bottles were all wrapped in black plastic bags.’
